Das Sommerhaus liegt in einem Naturschutzgebiet, geformt von
Sanddünen und Moränenhügeln, die mit Waldkiefer und Heide-
kraut bewachsen sind. Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts lockte die
zauberhafte Gegend viele Künstler und Schriftsteller an. Ihre
Sommerhäuser wurden oft von namhaften dänischen Architek-
ten dieser Zeit entworfen.
Sebastian Skovsted und Søren Johansen haben dort ein
Haus aus dem Jahr 1905 rekonstruiert, das in Teilen von Ivar
Bentsen geplant wurde. Der zuletzt unbewohnte Vorgängerbau
war von Schädlingen befallen und ein Abbruch unvermeidlich.
Mit seiner ochsenblutrot gestrichenen, holzverschalten
­Fassade und den weißen Fensterrahmen gleicht der Neubau in
zeitgemäßer Holzständerkonstruktion äußerlich seinem Vorbild,
das seinerzeit in Blockbauweise errichtet wurde.
The Tibirke Hills nature reserve, some 60 kilometres north of
Copenhagen, is characterized by its sand dunes and moraine
landscape covered with pine trees and heather. At the beginning
of the 20th century, this magical region attracted many artists and
authors who wished to build summer houses there, and these
were often designed by famous Danish architects of the time.
Sebastian Skovsted and Søren Johansen have reconstructed
a house dating from 1905 that had been planned in part by Ivar
Bentsen. Infested with vermin and ultimately uninhabited, there
had been no alternative but to demolish the ­former structure.
With its sang-de-boeuf painted wood-boarded facade and
white window frames, the new building – in a modern timber
post-and-beam form of construction – outwardly resembles its
predecessor, which was originally erected as a log house.

Innen zeigt sich das Sommerhaus hell und luftig. Die horizontale
Schalung aus breiten Kieferbrettern erinnert an die sichtbaren
Rundbalken der Blockwandkonstruktion. Auf den freiliegenden
Sparren liegt die leichte Dachkonstruktion mit druckfesten Holz-
faserdämmplatten auf.
Der ursprüngliche Grundriss wurde leicht verändert. Einige
Trennwände zwischen den Räumen sind im neuen Haus nicht
übernommen worden. Ein Wechsel im Bodenbelag und scharfe
Kanten am Übergang zwischen naturbelassenen und in Pastell-
tönen gestrichenen Wand- und Deckenflächen zeichnen die
Raumstruktur des Originals nach.
Auf diese Weise haben Johansen und Skovsted Stimmung
und Wohnqualität des Vorgängerbaus nachempfunden und zeit-
gemäß übersetzt. BZ
Internally, this new belvedere is bright and airy. The wide, hori-
zontal pine boarding is reminiscent of the visible round beams
of the timber log construction. On top of the exposed rafters,
a lightweight roof structure has been laid with compression-­
resistant wood-fibre sheet insulation.
In addition, the former layout has been slightly modified.
Certain partitions between rooms were not incorporated in the
new house, and a change was also made in the floor finishings.
On the other hand, the sharp edges at the transitions between
untreated wall and soffit surfaces and those painted in pastel
colours recapture the spatial structure of the original building.
In this way, Johansen and Skovsted have managed to
­recreate the mood and residential quality of the previous house,
translating it at the same time into a contemporary style. BZ
